However, fans of the original trio—Abhishek Bachchan as Inspector Jai Dixit and Uday Chopra as his comical partner, Ali—might be disappointed as the two actors are reportedly not returning for Dhoom 4. Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor had previously expressed his desire to be part of the Dhoom series. According to a Pinkvilla source, “Vedaa has been certified U/A by the revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification without a single cut. The makers have been advised to put a disclaimer at the beginning, and the entire content has received a clean chit from the certification body.”

With the certification hurdle cleared smoothly, the film’s team is thrilled and appreciative of the CBFC’s understanding of the important issue the film aims to address. Following his roles in “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” and “Sarfira,” actor Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his third release of 2024, titled “Khel Khel Mein.” This film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 15, 2024, and is expected to face stiff competition from Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s “Stree 2” and the John Abraham-starrer “Vedaa.” Recently, numerous reports suggested that the makers of “Khel Khel Mein” were considering changing the release date to avoid this box office clash. Director Robbie Grewal, director of Romeo Akbar Walter spoke about the time when they were planning to take Sushant Singh Rajput for the lead role. Sushant had said in an unofficial media release, “Unfortunately, I will not be a part of Romeo Akbar Walter due to changes in my prior commitments. I wanted to be a part of the project because I love the story, and believe it must be told, but, that will not happe.”

Sushant’s statement was also corroborated by producer Ajay Kapoor who had earlier told DNA, “Nothing went wrong except that the dates Sushant had given us were clashing with another film so we decided to part ways amicably. Obviously one feels bad as we had finished most of the prep and were ready to roll. But everything is sorted now, Sushant is like a brother.”

A source close to the project had told Mid-Day, “The script (of RAW) is powerful, and could have been a turning point in Sushant’s career. He requested Ajay to give him time to sort out the schedule conflict. Sushant wanted to shoot for his film over 15-day schedule, but Ajay felt it would affect the continuity. He wanted two 30-day schedules to complete Romeo, but that wasn’t possible for the actor.”

Expressing shock about SSR’s exit, RAW’s other producer, Bunty Wali, had said to Mumbai Mirror back then, “We had signed Sushant in February and had his dates too. His sudden exit came as a shock to us, in particular to Robbie (Director Robbei Grewal), given that he had given his nod right away.”

Soon after that, John Abraham stepped into Sushant’s role, with the film eventually turning out to be moderately successful at the box office.

According to sources, Bhushan Kumar-Anuradha Gupta production is going to be among the first films to get back to action next month after getting the go-ahead from the Telangana government in-sync with the guidelines laid down by the Producers Guild of India and the state. The crew is ready to take off to Hyderabad to complete the shoot.

“Yes, we are planning to shoot in Ramoji Rao Film City as they have all the facilities and equipment required, including an in-house crew and technical staff, along with hotels for the team from Mumbai. It’s all contained within the studio premises and that cuts down on the risk,” Gupta confirmed.

He further extended his assurance on safety by saying, “10-12 days of work on the film remains, for which the entire ensemble cast is required to be present. Gupta informs that all the actors have reacted positively to the development. “They have all worked really hard on the film and are happy to finish it on time so that we can present it to the audience.” He further added, “The well-being of the team is paramount.”

During the lockdown, the team had been working on the visual effects and editing from their respective homes. “Yes, we’ve been working in a limited way, but we still need around four months, from the time we complete the shoot to lock the final print. It’s a commercial action entertainer and the audience will get their paisa vasool,” Gupta says looking positive about the movie which is based on a real incident, with Emraan Hashmi playing the cop and John, a gangster from the 80s and 90s, and narrates the story of how Bombay became Mumbai.

Sanjay Gupta had previously directed several gangster dramas, like ‘Kaante’, ‘Musafir,’ ‘Shootout at Wadala,’ and written ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala.’

Meanwhile, Bhushan is happy that the team is gearing up to take the multi-starrer back on the floor. “It’s a very difficult time for the industry, but with the government’s support and approval, we can look at completing our films. I’m grateful to the Telangana government for agrreing to let us fly our cast and crew to Ramoji Rao Film City to shoot,” the producer stated.

He concluded by saying, “The health of everyone working on the project is our foremost concern. I am happy our supportive cast and crew have agreed to shoot next month.”

Rishi Kapoor is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor and children Ridhhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor.
