In the month of June, IANS had announced that Scandinavian producers Roope Lehtinen and Mikko Polla’s crime drama hit ‘Black Widows’ is all set for an Indian adaptation, narrating a darkly comic story of three best friends who try to kill their abusive husbands. The Indian version would be the eighth international remake of the show following versions in Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, the Middle East, Mexico, Scandinavia and Ukraine.

While the original starred Beate Bill, Cecilia Forss and Synnove Macody Lund, the cast of the Indian version were yet to be revealed back then.

On Friday, it was announced that along with Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee and Shamita Shetty, the Indian web series will also feature Sharad Kelkar, Raima Sen, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Aamir Ali.

“It feels great to start working again, amid safety measures. What is more exciting is the project itself! Being part of a popular international show with seven remakes and being adapted in India, is a huge opportunity,” said Mona.

The show is helmed by Bengali filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta, and parts of it will be shot in Kolkata.

Swastika added, “It is fun to shoot in Kolkata where I grew up. There is a great level of comfort, with safety and health as priority. This is a dream project for us all. How often do ypu get a chance to be part of an international adaptation with a talented director like Birsa and a phenomenal cast?”

Shamita said, “It is not your run-of-the-mill storyline and at the same time, it is a genre that has not been explored in India as it has internationally. Dark humour is tough to understand and even tougher to act! But we are trying our best.”

The shooting of the Zee5 show is currently underway in. two seasons are being lined up right now. The first is expected to be released in December.

Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Sanjay Dutt and Raima Sen shared some of their favorite memories from the film on the social media. This Pradeep Sarkar directed film was released in 2005 also starring Saif Ali Khan in the main role. The beautiful city of Kolkata was portrayed elegantly along with the mesmerizing music given by Shantanu Moitra.

Vidya took to her Instagram page and shared the trailer of Parineeta along with the movie stills. Along with that, she shared a series of BTS stills with her co-stars and expressed her unconditional love for cinema. Vidya wrote, “Like Lolita was Shekhar’s better half even before the world knew it, you were mine too… but on the 10^th June 2005, I became your Parineeta. I loved you forevermore… my dear Cinema. And to all those who have made sure this marriage survives and thrives, Tahe Dil Se Shukriya! #15YearsOfParineeta Thank you for the working still my friend @pavitrsaith P.S: Incidentally Parineeta was also the first film my #Shekhar, #SiddharthRoyKapur worked on after joining #UTV… his first film too.”

Raima remembered the movie with a still with Vidya.

Based on serial killing by adolescent Khoka in Chinatown, the story goes forward in 2019 where inspector Abhijit Pakrashi (Parambrata Chatterjee) is given a case to capture Khoka (Anirban Bhattacharya), who is now out of prison and has committed a murder in the exact pattern as he did in 1993. The movie did not leave any loose notes in between and had an amazing story telling.

The film stars Parambrata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Anirban Bhattacharya and Abir Chatterjee. The 127 minutes thriller film was theatrically released on 23^rd January, 2020 and now is currently streaming on’ Hoichoi.’

Nevertheless, the audience had a mixed review about the movie and compared it to the prequel, ‘Baishe Srabon,’ yet we would appreciate your reviews on the movie and whether you recommend it to others for watching.
