Bollywood Hungama recently shared exclusive insights into the censor proceedings for the Hindi version of the highly anticipated film, Pushpa 2 – The Rule. Originally in Telugu, the film stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, and it releases on December 5. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared the Hindi version just 48 hours before its release, but not without a few modifications. The term ‘Ramavatar’ was substituted with ‘Bhagwan’, while ‘Haraam zaada’ was replaced by ‘Haraamkhor’ in three instances. Additionally, an unspecified dialogue was translated into Hindi.

A particularly graphic scene involving a flying amputated leg was removed, mirroring the censorship of the same scene in the original Telugu version. To ensure compliance, anti-smoking warnings were added to scenes featuring smoking. The Telugu version, approved on November 28, also saw several changes. The CBFC demanded the omission of the word ‘r***i’ in three instances, along with ‘Denguddi’ and ‘Venkateshwar’. Further, a scene showcasing the protagonist with a severed arm prompted the CBFC to require a close-up of the protagonist to obscure the violent visuals.

Both versions received a U/A certificate, indicating suitability for a young audience with parental guidance, and maintain a runtime of 200.38 minutes. Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 follows the unexpected success of its predecessor, Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 (2021), which achieved significant acclaim in both Hindi and Telugu markets.
