Today we are all enjoying freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of religion. But we have forgotten those people who actually brought us this freedom. The Forgotten Army- Azaadi Ke Liye is a true epic war series, starring Sunny Kaushal and Sharvari Wagh in the leads. It is premiered on Amazon Prime. The series is based on true events about the men and women in The Indian National Army (INA) led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The story shows how the Indian soldiers from the Azad Hind Fauj marched 3,884 kms from Singapore to Delhi to free their country from the British. The film is directed by Kabir Khan. Talking about his directorial debut, his documentary with the same name was aired in Doordarshan in 1999.
Talking about the drawbacks, the series contains of only 5 episodes. And just five episodes are not enough for such an epic. The INA struggle, their passion, their sacrifices and all other related things could have been shown in a more detailed way but it was subdued by the love story angle. The ending will leave you craving for more as many questions remain unanswered.
Other than that, the series is a must watch as it is sure to give you goosebumps at some points while it makes you weep at others.
