South industry donates to fight corona-virus

The entire country is witnessing a 21 day lockdown, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to contain the spread of the virus.  The number of corona virus cases climbed to 694 in India and the death toll rose to 16. While the government is trying its best to save the country from the deadly virus, many Indian cine stars donated funds and medical supplies to help the country  combat the corona-virus pandemic. South superstar Rajnikanth was the first celebrity to come forward by donating Rs. 50 lakh to help daily wage workers. Actor Vijay Sethupathi also donated Rs. 10 lakh. Bahubali superstar donated Rs. 3 crore to the Prime Minister’s relief fund and Rs. 50 lakhs each to Chief Minister’s relief fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Actor Pawan Kalyan donated 2crore, Mahesh Babu donated 1 crore and Allu Arjun donated 1.25 cr to fight against the Corona Pandemic.

In Bollywood, Hrithik and Kapil came forward to fund the relief work. While Hrithik said that he has procured FFP3 and N95 masks for BMC workers and caretakers, Comedian Kapil Sharma announced that he was contributing a sum of Rs. 50 lakh to the Prime Minister relief fund.

The initiative, I Stand With Humanity, started by organizations – The International Association for Human Values, The Art of Living Foundation and the Indian Film and Television industry. Will provide families of daily wage workers with 10 days of essential food supplies.
