Ranbir Kapoor recently confirmed that his successful film “Brahmastra” is set to become a three-part franchise. In an interview at the Red Sea Film Festival, he provided an update on the sequel, “Brahmastra 2,” revealing that the team is currently in the scriptwriting phase. Kapoor expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “That’s something very exciting.” The first installment was titled “Shiva,” and the sequel will be called “Dev.” While the cast for “Dev” hasn’t been officially announced, Kapoor hinted at exciting developments on that front. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji, a close friend with whom Kapoor previously collaborated on “Wake Up Sid,” “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,” and the first “Brahmastra.” Kapoor highlighted the unique nature of the franchise within Indian cinema, noting its potential for further expansion in future parts. The film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and also features Kapoor’s wife, Alia Bhatt, along with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.
Recently, Kapoor wrapped up filming for another major project, “Ramayana,” directed by Nitesh Tiwari, where he stars opposite Sai Pallavi. Additionally, he has “Love and War” lined up, a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in which he will share the screen with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
In other exciting news, Kapoor confirmed that “Animal 2” is in the pipeline, with filming slated to begin in 2027. He teased the intriguing aspect of playing dual roles in this project, both as the antagonist and the protagonist, offering a fresh take for audiences.
