Snehlata Dixit, the mother of Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her demise.
Madhuri and her husband Shriram Nene shared the tragic news in a joint statement on social media. They wrote, “Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones. We are deeply saddened by her loss and request you to respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
The statement did not reveal the cause of Snehlata’s death. However, reports suggest that she was suffering from age-related ailments for a long time. She had also contracted Covid-19 last year but had recovered from it.
Snehlata was a constant source of support and inspiration for Madhuri, who often shared pictures and videos with her on social media. She also celebrated her mother’s 91st birthday in January this year with a heartfelt post. She wrote, “Every day I thank God for being blessed with such an amazing mom who has taught me to live life to the fullest. Happy birthday Aai.”
Snehlata was also close to Madhuri’s husband and two sons, Arin and Ryan. She had accompanied them when they moved back to India from the US in 2011. She had also attended many events and functions with Madhuri and her family.
Snehlata’s cremation will take place today at 3 pm at a crematorium in Worli, Mumbai. Many celebrities and fans have expressed their condolences and prayers for the bereaved family.
Madhuri is one of the most popular and successful actresses in Bollywood. She has starred in many hit films such as Tezaab, Ram Lakhan, Dil, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dil To Pagal Hai, Devdas and more. She is also a judge on the reality show Dance Deewane and has launched her own online dance academy called Dance With Madhuri.
