Vidya Balan is all set to stun you as the mathematical genius, ‘Shakuntala Devi’, the trailer of which is one of the most anticipated movies of 2020. The trailer will take you down the lane of the genius’s roller-coaster life, who made her name enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The fine and flawless performance by the Dirty Picture actress is impressive and full of power.

The 2-minute-47-seconds trailer traces the math genius’s childhood where on expressing her desire to go to school in a rural setup, while her father replies, “What will the school teach you, instead, you will end up teaching the school.’ Until adulthoot, she finds herself explain to a foreign official that she loves going on the stage and see people’s face when they see a girl in chotis doing maths.

The trailer moves forward to show the genius’s struggle in her personal life. Her daughter, played by Dangal actor Sanya Malhotra, accuses her of neglecting her amidst her climb to fame as a mathematical genius. This adds a dramatic turn in the otherwise, witty, funny and a brainstorming setup. The background music goes well to intensify each situation perfectly. If you go through the trailer, you will find some great dialogues which are like icing on the cake. The funny and witty trailer ends with Vidya Balan reaffirming the need for drama in life as she says, “We Indians are like that only. Drama or nothing.’ In retrospect, only Vidya, with her top-level act in Shakuntala Devi, can make everyone to say, ‘Yes’ when she asks, “Taiyyar ho mere best friend maths se dosti karne ke liye’ (Are you ready to befriend my best friend- Maths)”

Earlier in the day, Vidya Balan has shared a new poster that showed her character’s evolution over the years-as she is seen with her bag and luggage and two plaits, a modern woman dressed in western clothes and a spectacled sari clad woman in a few decades later. The movie is directed by Anu Menon and is scheduled to release on Amazon Prime Video on July 31. The other actors in the movie are Jisshu Sengupta and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.

The movie is based on the life of Shakuntala Devi, a mathematical genius who was known to be witty and eccentric. Popularly known as ‘The Human Computer’, she lived life on her own terms. She earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guiness Book of World Records. She is survivied by her daughter, Anupama Banerjee.
