Leena Acharya, who was a part of TV shows like Seth Ji, Aap Ke Aa Jane Se, Meri Hanikarak Biwi and Class of 2020 passed away on Saturday in Delhi due to kidney failure. She had also starred in Bollywood film, Hichki.
“The actress was suffering from kidney ailment for past one and a half years. Her mother donated her kidney a while back, but she didn’t survive,” her Seth Ji co-star Worship Khanna told Times of India.
Reportedly, there were rumours of the actress dying due to COVID-19, but the actor confirmed that kidney failure is the reason. Recalling his days with the late actress, Worship told ETimes TV, “n 2015, I had the opportunity to work with Leena ji. She played my mother on screen in Seth Ji. I was playing the role of Ganesh Rao, a Maharashtrian. I would call her Maeri instead of Maa. We shared a great bond. Being a bachelor staying alone in Mumbai, she would get food for me and say ‘Babu khana kha le’. She was a very fun loving person.”
Regarding her health issues, Worship added, “I knew she had health issues in 2015. She was surviving on one kidney and working. She had suffered many health ailments in between and in past four months her health had deteriorated a lot. She was an experienced actor and I will remember her forever.”
Many of the industry colleagues mourned her death and poured their tribute for the late actor.
Class of 2020 actor, Rohan Mehra took to his Instagram handle to mourn the demise of his co-star.
