India Launches Its First-Ever AI Film Festival and Hackathon at IFFI 2025 — Where Creativity Meets Code in Goa 2

In a groundbreaking move set to redefine the cinematic landscape, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has announced the debut of the nation’s first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) Film Festival and Hackathon. Scheduled to unfold amid the vibrant backdrop of Goa during the 56th IFFI from November 20 to 28, 2025, this pioneering initiative aims to merge the artistry of cinema with the ingenuity of technology.

Visionary filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, serving as the Jury Chair of the IFFI AI Film Festival, captured the spirit of the moment perfectly: “Cinema has always mirrored the boundless power of human imagination. Today, with AI as our new lens, our dreams can morph into vibrant realities.”

At the heart of the event lies the AI Film Showcase, an enthralling platform where films created with the aid of artificial intelligence will take center stage. From evocative fiction and eye-opening documentaries to dazzling animations and avant-garde experimental shorts, the showcase promises to spotlight the limitless possibilities of algorithm-driven creativity.

Adding to the excitement is a 48-hour Hackathon, an adrenaline-fueled challenge inviting developers, storytellers, and technologists to craft innovative AI tools that could revolutionize filmmaking. Participants will collaborate and compete to reimagine how technology can enhance narrative expression and cinematic production.

The festival also features workshops and masterclasses, offering attendees hands-on exposure to AI-driven film production, ethical storytelling, and emerging creative workflows. These sessions, led by industry leaders, aim to empower the next generation of filmmakers with knowledge at the intersection of art and AI.

This visionary initiative is a collaboration between LTIMindtree’s BlueVerse CraftStudio and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). As Sujay Sen, Executive Vice President & Global Head of Interactive Services at LTIMindtree, aptly noted, “The future of storytelling lies in the cosmic interplay of human ingenuity and AI.”

Prakash Magdum, Managing Director of NFDC, underscored that this collaboration harmonizes IFFI’s rich legacy with AI’s transformative potential, promoting responsible, inclusive, and globally resonant storytelling practices.

As anticipation builds ahead of the event, one question lingers in the minds of cinephiles and creators alike: Is this the dawn of a new era in cinema—where imagination meets artificial intelligence?
