How Corona Virus Outbreak has affected the Film and Television industry?

The corona-virus pandemic has severely affected the work and life of people all over the world. But no industry is being damaged as quickly as entertainment.

To combat the spread of novel corona-virus, film bodies in India including Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE), Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) and Producers Guild of India on Sunday decided to put shootings of films, TV shows and web series on hold from March 19 to March 31. While the, filmmakers, film stars and other celebrities get to spend quality time with their family and friends, it is not the same for the grassroots-level worker who actually gets paid per day. For most of them, one day’s work means just a few hundred rupees and shutting down of the entertainment industry would mean even that meager income will stop. Though this decision has been taken considering the safety of all the people involved, it is creating tensions for the lower-rung workers as there would be probably no income for 13 days at a stretch. Moreover, the lock down period may further be extended depending upon the circumstances. And this would indeed mostly impact the lives of these people.

Till now, the total corona-virus positive cases in India have climbed to 161 which includes 25 foreign nationals and three persons who died in Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
