According to reports, Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan season 7 stands on hold due to the recent controversies that have taken over the social media following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The show’s last season was among the highly controversial seasons till date. Also, ever since the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death broke, many people started sharing clips from the show where actresses like Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor were seen passing comments on the young actor.
As mentioned before, Koffee with Karan has always been controversial but this time, the outrage is at its peak. More than the show itself, the host, Karan Johar is facing a lot of backlash along with Salman Khan, Ekta Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha. After the success of season 6, the seventh season’s shooting were about to start soon. But now, as per reports, the upcoming season has been shelved by the channel it airs on.
A source told Pinkvilla, “With the ongoing controversy around, the channel has decided to not shoot the seventh season anytime soon. They have expressed their concerns and are aware that the new season, if begun, will face a lot of backlashes from the audience and on social media. While due to the Coronavirus pandemic, several stars have decided not to shoot for the show, as they don’t want to add fuel to the fire. Now, Star has to take a call on whether they want to discontinue the show completely henceforth.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed against Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Salman Khan and others for allegedly hatching a conspiracy and abetting the suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Adding to this, a few days later, a similar case has been filed against Sushant’s rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.
