Mukesh Khanna came down heavily on Jaya Bachchan for her controversial statement wherein she had said that people are defaming the same industry which have made their careers, while using the popular Hindi proverb- ‘Jis thali mein khate hain usmein chhed karte hain.’ She had said this in response to Ravi Kishan’s remark that drug addiction exists in the film industry.
The public as well as many celebs seems to be unhappy to hear such a derogatory remark from a veteran actor. Mukesh Khanna tagged it as ‘ridiculous.’ In an interview with Times Now, he stated, “If anybody feels uncomfortable of this investigation to be done for drugs, if a person like Ravi Kishan says ‘drugs chalti hai’ and then somebody says ‘jis thaali mein khaate ho usi mein ched karte hai,’ it is ridiculous to say. You say whether he is right or wrong. You have not given us the food. Everyone works hard.”
Earlier, actor Ranbir Shorey too expressed his displeasure for Jaya Bachchan’s ‘Thali’ comment and linked it to the nepotism debate. He had shared on Twitter, “Thaaliyaan sajaate hain yah apane bachchon ke lie. Hum jaison ko phenke jaate hain sirf tukade. Apana tiffin khud pack karake kaam pe jaate hain ham. Kisee ne kuchh diya nahin hai. Jo hai, vo hai jo yah log hamase le nahin sake. Inaka bas chalata to vo bhee apane hee bachchon ko dete. (They decorate the plates for their children. We are just given the left over pieces. We pack our own tiffin and go to work. No one has given us anything. What we have, these people cannot take it from us. If they could, they would have given that as well to their kids).”
