The happiest women today are not the married ones: Malaika Arora

In our society, the definition of happiness for both the genders are different.  For many women getting married in their mid-twenties and having children before they turn thirty can be considered as their definition of a happy life. While for others, climbing the corporate ladder while sacrificing their personal life can be an epitome of success that brings them happiness and joy. There are also women who strike the perfect balance and divide their time equally between office work and home. Bollywood actress Malaika Arora recently shared an Instagram post where she carried a very interesting definition of a happy woman. “The happiest women today are not the married ones,” she wrote.

“They’re (happy women) not the single ones. They’re not the ones with stable careers and good incomes. The happiest women are the ones who made a choice to love themselves wholly and truly. Women who chose to leave the past behind, worked on their self-esteem and put a high price tag on their self-esteem.”

Malaika also raised a very important issue talking about the people who play victim. According to the actress, a happy woman never plays a victim, “They stopped playing victims. They stopped whining in self-pity and dining in pity parties. They moved past their anger, tears and bitterness. They realized that happiness is a personal choice and responsibility. They chose to be defined by their present, but not their pasts. They are happy because they don’t need validation from anyone. They are happy because they know that they don’t need to throw shade on anyone for them to shine. They are happy because they chose to be Queens.”
