The pandemic has hit the backbone of economy and yet, our country is keeping up with the battle against the crisis. Many people have come forward to give a helping hand to bring a little relief to it.
One amongst such is actor Arjun Rampal, who has been playing poker for the past few months to support NGOs during the pandemic lockdown. He revealed to a media portal that a licensed poker site is raising funds for a smaller deserving charities in India. He is partner and brand ambassador for poker site, PokerHigh.com and is spending his time raising funds with the initiative.
He told the media portal that the number of people logging in to play poker during the lockdown has increased. So, the Poker website thought that they could use the skilled game to give back to smaller NGOs that have not been getting recognition. Arjun explained that, in the game, there are different teams representing the charities. People can decide which one they wish to play for.
He also explained that the initiative started two months ago and has been successful. He further told the portal that a group began sending food parcels to around 2 lakh people. Arjun further added that in the game, the winner gets to keep what they win.
While the winner gets to keep the prize won, the stake made by the ‘bank’ goes to the NGOs. The NGOs provide food to the humans and works for animals’ welfare as well. Arjun Rampal revealed that he too plays the game on PokerHigh.com. Talking about it, he says that he plays descent but there is still room for improvement. He also revealed that during the lockdown, the time he dedicates to Poker has increased a lot.
Talking about the pandemic, Arjun Rampal said that he believes it is a huge wakeup call for everyone. He said that panicking is not going to help, it is important to adapt and adjust. Arjun also told that people need to stick with the new norms and practice social distancing and wear a mask.
On the work front, Arjun said that he was working on three films and two web series. Reportedly, his upcoming projects included The Big Battle of Bhima Koregaon, The Rapist, and The Final Call.
