In the midst of the highly anticipated clash between “Gadar 2” and “OMG 2,” another heavyweight film is set to dominate the screens ahead of the Independence Day holiday. Superstar Rajinikanth is ready to set the big screens ablaze with his pan-India mega film, “Jailer.”
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, this action thriller with a touch of black comedy marks Rajinikanth‘s comeback after a two-year hiatus since his last appearance in “Annaatthe” in 2021. The film, slated for release on August 10th, is expected to make a grand opening at the box office, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
As the release of “Jailer” draws near, exciting rumors about the film have begun circulating. One such rumor suggests that Rajinikanth’s remuneration for the film amounts to a staggering 110 crores. Considering the actor’s previous fees of over 100 crores per film, this news seems believable. Additionally, it has been revealed that the total budget of “Jailer” is a whopping 225 crores. By calculating these figures, it becomes apparent that Rajinikanth’s fee accounts for a significant portion, approximately 48.88%, of the film’s overall cost.
In the recently released showcase of “Jailer,” Rajinikanth, also known as “Tiger” Muthuval Pandian, exudes a fierce and no-nonsense persona. Portraying a veteran policeman whose son goes missing, he stops at nothing to find his child and eliminates anyone who poses a threat to his family. Alongside Rajinikanth, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and others.
With Rajinikanth’s long-awaited return to the silver screen, fans are anticipating the film’s release with great excitement. Packed cinema halls, milk-bathed posters, firecrackers, and more are expected to accompany the film’s arrival. To elevate the fan fervor, offices in Chennai and Bengaluru have declared a holiday on August 10th, the day of “Jailer’s” release. Furthermore, some companies have even provided free tickets to their employees to prevent them from resorting to pirated content.
Last week, the makers of “Jailer” unveiled the film’s trailer, showcasing Rajinikanth’s character “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian in two distinct avatars. The trailer highlighted the protagonist’s role as a father of a police officer and revealed his relentless battle against villainous forces using swords and guns. Jackie Shroff, in a never-before-seen avatar, described Rajinikanth’s character with an impactful dialogue, stating, “You have only seen him as a father of a policeman, but I’m familiar with his other face that you are not aware of.”
Helmed by director Nelson Dilipkumar, “Jailer” promises to be an action-packed entertainer, boasting a stellar ensemble cast that includes Priyanka Mohan, Shiva Rajkumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan. Furthermore, Malayalam actor Mohanlal has been roped in for an extended cameo in the film.
Adding to the excitement surrounding “Jailer,” Tamannaah’s song “Kaavaalaa” has also gone viral among fans, further fueling anticipation for the film’s release.
