Aamir Khan and Suriya are both thrilled about the prospects of “Ghajini 2,” but they’re hesitant to call it a remake. Aamir has been in discussions with producers Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena about a sequel to the original 2008 blockbuster. The producers have pitched a concept to Aamir, who has asked for a detailed storyboard before proceeding further.
In an intriguing development, Allu Aravind plans to produce “Ghajini 2” in Tamil with Suriya as the lead. Suriya confirmed this in an interview with Pinkvilla, expressing excitement about the sequel. He revealed that discussions have commenced and the project seems to be gaining momentum. “It’s surprising you asked about Ghajini 2 now. After a long time, Allu Aravind approached me with the idea for a sequel, and I was excited to discuss it. Yes, the talks have started, and things are in process. Ghajini 2 might just happen!” he shared.
Industry insiders reveal that both Aamir and Suriya are keen on avoiding the “remake” label for their films. They are aware that whichever film releases first might lose the novelty factor, a concern they’ve communicated with the producers. As a solution, Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena proposed shooting both “Ghajini” films simultaneously and releasing them on the same day.
There are also reports of Aamir Khan mulling over a sequel to his blockbuster hit “Ghajini,” which was the first Indian film to cross the Rs. 100 crores mark at the box office. Aamir is in talks with the creative team and believes the story could evolve into a franchise, but he insists on a robust script before proceeding.
