Big B’s highly anticipated flick ‘Jhund’ and the Abhishek Bachchan and Rajkummar Rao multi-starrer ‘Ludo’ will reportedly not have a theatrical release, but an OTT release.
Reports state that the makers have allegedly sold the rights of the films to one of the online streaming giants. Owing to the current pandemic crisis and the uncertainty looming over the re-opening of theatres any time soon, the makers reported decided to go ahead with an online release instead.
Late last month, it was announced that Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Laxmmi Bomb’ would also release directly on an OTT platform. While it may take a long time for theatres to reopen, OTT platforms are proving to be the go-to option for filmmakers and producers.
On the other hand, film exhibitors and theatre chains have requested filmmakers to avoid releasing their films online, emphasising that releasing films on OTT will make cinema halls irrelevant.
