A comprehensive book, entitled “Bhupen Hazarika”, encapsulating the life, philosophy, music, art and the diverse perspectives of the music maestro will be released from culcutta very shortly. The book encompasses the insights of the prominent artist of the country, journalists and the intellectuals, on the different perspectives of Bhupen Hazarika in a lucid manner. Renowned singer Lata Mageskar, music composer Gulzar, film producer Jahnu Barua, cultural activist Arun Chattopadhaya along with the distinguished intellectuals of Assam and Hazarika’s son Tez Hazarika rendered their intellectual contributions to the book. ‘In order to bring out the larger implications of Bhupen Hazarika’s works and to manifest a textual identity among the non-Assamese readers, attempt is made to structure a book on Bhupen Hazarika’- the editors of the book Utpal Mena and Bhairabanan Borah said. It is also informed by the Editors that the pieces of writing written in Assamese, Hindi and Bengali by the contributors have been reproduced in the translation form of English. A great number of the songs of Bhupen Hazarika have been translated to English in this book. The book is going to be published by Chitrachal publication house of Ganeshguri, Guahati and will be distributed from punthi pustak, culcutta.
