“Unveiling Laughter: Sonali Kulkarni’s Hilarious ‘Mission Kashmir’ Tale with Sanjay Dutt’s Heartwarming Support”
Actress Sonali Kulkarni recently shared a humorous anecdote from her early acting days while filming the movie “Mission Kashmir,” directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Recalling a particularly nerve-wracking moment, Sonali discussed her experience during a scene often referred to on set as the “bedroom scene.” Preparing for the shoot, her hairdresser nonchalantly asked, “You have waxed, right?” This unexpected question caught Sonali off guard, adding to her nerves. She recounted to interviewer Siddharth Kannan how, donning a gown, nervousness overtook her, causing her lips to quiver and hands to tremble.
During the memorable scene, Sonali shared the screen with Sanjay Dutt. The scene involved a simple dialogue exchange where Dutt’s character remarked, “Today, Altaf called me abba,” to which Sonali’s character responded, “He has called me ammi before,” followed by a hug. Her jitters were so apparent that Sanjay Dutt noticed her discomfort with the gown. In a reassuring manner, he called her over and lightheartedly calmed her nerves: “There’s no kiss or anything, just two dialogues and a hug. I’m nervous, but if you also get this nervous, the scene won’t happen. So just relax.” Sonali fondly described Sanjay as “too cute” for his kindness and comforting words.
“Mission Kashmir,” featuring Sonali Kulkarni and Hrithik Roshan in significant roles, showcased the dynamic talents of the cast. The film is noted not just for its gripping storyline but also for its insightful behind-the-scenes tales like Sonali’s, offering a glimpse into the lighter side of filmmaking. Beyond this film, Sonali and Hrithik also appeared together in Farhan Akhtar’s “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Love, Sitara,” further cementing their on-screen chemistry.
