I Want To Talk: Box Office Collection Day 1
The latest offering from acclaimed director Shoojit Sircar, “I Want To Talk,” has not had an impressive start at the box office. Released on November 22, the slice-of-life drama earned a mere ₹25 lakh nett in India, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.com. The film opened with an overall 7.44% occupancy for Hindi screenings on its first day, highlighting a somewhat lukewarm reception from audiences.
Produced by Rising Sun Films and Kino Works, “I Want To Talk” delves into the intricacies of mortality and personal relationships. The story centers around Abhishek Bachchan’s character, Arjun, who is about to undergo life-altering surgery while navigating a complex relationship with his daughter. The cast also features Johny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo, Banita Sandhu, and Pearle Maaney, adding depth and dimension to this engaging narrative.
Abhishek Bachchan’s performance as Arjun received praise, notably using his real-life demeanor to deliver witty and engaging dialogue. However, the film struggled with pacing issues. As noted in Hindustan Times’ review, while the first half sets up a compelling conflict and character trajectory, the second half feels unnecessarily prolonged, though it still concludes on a hopeful note.
Despite the star power and heartfelt story, “I Want To Talk” did not reach the box office heights of Bachchan’s previous film, “Ghoomer,” which earned ₹85 lakh on its opening day.
In a recent interview, Abhishek shared insights on his physical transformation for the role, stating he gained weight without the use of prosthetics. He noted the challenges of losing weight post-production, advising against such drastic changes, especially at his age.
“I Want To Talk” is inspired by real events, adding a layer of authenticity to its narrative. While the opening numbers were modest, the film’s exploration of life and relationships coupled with a strong lead performance may still resonate deeply with audiences.
