8th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival Invites Entries from Across India

Invites entries for both Competitive and Non-Competitive categories

Guwahati; October 12, 2023: As the eighth edition of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival approaches, the preeminent film event in Northeast India is now open for film submissions across India for both competitive and non-competitive categories.

Filmmakers nationwide are invited to submit their entries by October 31, 2023, for the 8th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF), scheduled to take place in Guwahati this December.

Organized by Tattva Creations, BVFF has solidified its reputation as a showcase for meaningful cinema and creative expression, highlighting the rich tapestry of natural beauty, diverse cultures, and abundant talent in the North East of India. Over the years, BVFF has attracted nearly 200,000 film enthusiasts, with an average of 20,000 visitors per festival in its previous editions, earning its place as a cornerstone of the Indian Film Festival Circuit and gaining recognition and support from industry luminaries.

In its 8th edition, the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival introduces new competition categories for feature films and documentaries, in addition to the existing short films section. The festival will also feature non-competitive categories, broadening the platform for emerging talent and presenting some of the finest works in meaningful and creative cinema.

Despite recent global challenges, BVFF returns with a renewed commitment to celebrating meaningful filmmaking, not only on the national stage but also on the international platform. The festival extends a warm invitation to film enthusiasts worldwide to participate in this cinematic extravaganza.

Tanushree Hazarika, Festival Director of the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival, expressed her excitement about the upcoming edition, stating, “Organizing seven successful editions of BVFF has been a wonderful journey, and we are thrilled to prepare for the grandeur of the 8th edition in December 2023. Hosted in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India, BVFF aims to be a platform that brings together filmmakers and film talent from across India.”

The festival lineup includes a diverse range of special screenings, including premiere screenings, international showcases, and family-friendly children’s film screenings. Beyond films, BVFF offers a haven for creativity and networking, with engaging workshops, stimulating quizzes, and insightful panel discussions, providing prime opportunities to connect and network with renowned cinematic figures, both nationally and internationally recognized.

Speaking about the festival in previous editions, actor Boman Irani expressed his desire to attend again, saying, “Such a wonderful audience, so responsive to the smallest detail. I wish I could come again and again to attend BVFF,” after the 2018 edition. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali also praised the festival in 2019, stating, “The efforts that you take on to select the films and get the right filmmakers, thereby giving them a great opportunity and the platform to showcase their work. And that is why for seven years BVFF has been running successfully.”

Several noted film personalities, including Farhan Akhtar (2014), Prakash Jha (2016), Rajkumar Hirani (2015), Gauri Shinde (2017), Nicholas Kharkongor (2019), Reema Kagti (2016), Shakun Batra (2018), Paoli Dam (2019), Sobhita Dhulipala (2019), Shiladitya Bora (2019), among many others, have actively participated in the festival in the past, providing positive feedback and encouraging the organizers and everyone associated with the homegrown film festival.
